Senior Therapeutic Carer (40 hrs/wk. [shifts])

Working in our Therapeutic Homes and supporting children attending our Therapeutic School, your role is to support and line manage and supervise and guide the practice of your colleagues in the team, and coordinate and effectively manage each shift. You will work collaboratively with the Homes Deputy Manager and Registered Manager and be part of the Management Team of the Home, ensuring that the Home is run and operated safely and in compliance with requirements of legislation and regulation, and that the Children living in the Home are cared for and educated to the highest standards, and that they make progress and thrive.

To achieve this, you will;

  • Effectively and appropriately assist in aspects of managing, leading, monitoring, and developing the Therapeutic Children’s Home in which you are based.
  • Share appropriate and delegated responsibility for improving the therapeutic care and education provision offered, and promoting all aspects of the Home as a ‘facilitating environment’ conducive to therapeutic thinking and practice.
  • Involve yourself helping to implement the Home’s agreed Improvement Plan to ensure continual development of the Quality of Care provided by the Home.
  • Offer and provide appropriate and necessary support to the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager, and where necessary to other Managers, the Head Teacher and members of the Executive Team.
    Accept delegated responsibility for relevant aspects of recruitment, staffing, legislation, managing financial processes, and efficient use of resources.
  • Support colleagues in meeting the emotional, safeguarding, social, psychological, educational, and academic needs of the children looked after by the Home and across the whole of The Lioncare Group.
  • Appropriately liaise and interact with all colleagues across the organisation and wider external networks to ensure effective communication & promote positive and harmonious working relationships.

Starting basic salary range:

  • £23,140.00 [£11.12 per hour] (new to the role)
  • £23,603.00 [£11.35 per hour] (some prior experience in the role)
  • £24,075.00 [£11.57 per hour] (regular prior experience in the role)
  • £24,556.00 [£11.81 per hour] (substantial prior experience & qualifications – discretionary)

Based in one of our three Children’s Homes, your role is to provide full administrative support to the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in carrying out their statutory and regulatory responsibilities. These include amongst other duties;

  • Receive and welcome visitors to the Home in a professional and courteous manner
  • Use I.C.T. Systems including E-mail, Word, Excel and Google Drive to produce and manage documents and records
  • Deal with general enquiries
  • Take a pro-active role in helping the Home to function as a facilitating environment, including good organisation of workspaces and supporting health and safety and risk assessment procedures
  • Manage and record incoming and outgoing mail (including E-mail) appropriately and respond to correspondence accordingly
  • Ensure effective workflow through prioritising workload
  • Order and manage stationery, resource, and supplies as directed by the Registered Manager
  • Develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with colleagues and children
  • Answer telephone calls in a professional manner, monitor, screen, and keep a record of telephone calls including messages
  • Manage retention of records and information in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Accurate minute-taking at meetings that may include confidential material
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of the Homes petty cash system, including maintaining accurate records and receipts of all petty cash incomings and outgoings
  • Monitoring and recording annual leave and sickness information
  • Collect and process children’s routine outcome measures that track children’s progress
  • Manage and oversee all matters relating to the vehicles owned and operated by the Home
  • Maintain the Homes digital diary
  • Regularly update databases

Starting basic salary range: £11,336.00 – £11,876.00 (£8.72 – £9.14 per hour) depending on prior experience & regular salary progression up to £12,418.00. Working in our Therapeutic Homes and supporting children attending our Therapeutic School, your role and duties are similar to those of a Therapeutic Carer, except that you will also be undertaking our 6-month work-based basic training programme that will equip you with the skills and knowledge allowing you to be considered for automatic promotion to Therapeutic Carer following relevant assessment.

Starting basic salary range (based on a 40 hr working week):

  • £18,720.00 [£9.00 per hour] (no prior experience and becomes TC1 after probation)
  • £19,094.00 [£9.18 per hour] (some prior experience and becomes TC2 after probation)
  • £19,476.00 [£9.36 per hour] (regular prior experience and becomes TC3 after probation)

We are establishing a ‘bank’ of workers who are available at short notice to cover for unplanned absences (e.g. sickness and annual leave) of our regular Waking Night Therapeutic Carers and Waking Night Workers. Working in our Therapeutic Homes, your role is to stay awake through the night, provide the children & young people in your care with comfort & support when needed, & undertake domestic duties & responsibility for safety & security of the Home.

Starting basic salary range: £9.02 p/hr. – £10.10 p/hr. depending on experience.
